Wow, I madningo forgotten what the cover even looked like, but I remember the title and the dog-eared pages of scenes onsott got passed around the lunch table Same with Blanche’s mother’s deafness and ear horn. I thi Pretty much trash writing. The story takes place over the course of a few years in the s, in rural Alabama on the slave-breeding plantation of Falconhurst. Kyle Onstott made no apology for writing this book to make money. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a “Must Read” by any stretch of the imagination Now this book is about fifty flavors of racist, and bigotry just leaps from the pages, yet it is a compelling read. Pretty much trash writing. For example, Big Pearl Mede’s sister comes down with a “misery” and this rather blah event Sick slave! In addition to keeping a “bed wench” at home, when Hammond Maxwell travels to various locations, his hosts usually offer a slave to sleep with along with dinner and a bed.
Apr 19, Alan Smith rated it liked it. While in Mississippi, Hammond sells one of his male slaves to a German woman, who obviously wants onatott slave for sex.
That squirt no good. I’m not a prude but the nonstop descriptions of slave genitalia made me super uncomfortable.
