This is one of my ALL time favorite books. We must bring an excitement about ourselves, our lives, and the vision we have for these two essential elements. I found this book to This book is very helpful, especially if you are having relationship trouble. At the moment, I’ve lent it on to a fellow friend, telling him that perhaps it would help him to understand me better, silently planting a seed that it may assist his journey as well.
It is hi-lighted and rabbit eared to the point that I would never be able to lend anyone my copy but it is one of the best self-help books I have ever encountered and I have read a TON of them, believe me.

I liked the message well enough but at one point I just felt like there were other things out there that I preferred reading to this.
This was a reread for me. If you find yourself in the basement or in a basement type of relationship where you believe you are a victim, where you feel that your survival is at risk, where you are focusing on every unpleasant thing that has happened in your life–STOP!
The truth is, in most cases, we could do just that. I loved the analogy of moving through a house of love, from the basement to the attic, each story a higher consciousness of what you need to do to fully realize yourself.

This evolutionary expansion will provide us with a greater awareness of ourselves, the world in which we live, and the mysteries of life. When the relationship at issue is an intimate, loving one, the attempt to move forward without addressing the pain only complicates matters, further poisoning the relationship.
On top of it all, your relationships, particularly your romantic relationships, are failing.

As I read this book I cried and cried as I realized I didn’t love myself at all. I gave it 4 stars because some people may find some of the phrasing a little hokey, but the content was well-worth it!
