I mean, let’s be clear, this book doesn’t re-invent the wheel of urban fantasy, but it does what we expect well and that’s all I wanted!
I’m sensing a potential love triangle on the horizon but I actually don’t mind Fal These days it seems like I only make it past the first chapter in about 1 out of every 4 or 5 urban fantasy books that I try to read, so the fact that I actually liked this enough to read the whole thing is pretty amazing. Only Ms Harris could sell a look that is better suited to Barbie dolls. Even Death the one unique element and his feelings for Alex are just tossed out there without much effort put into the backstory.
You never know what’s going to happen next. Best of all, they can’t lie, but one has never taken the stand in a murder trial. The focus is on the mystery and murders.

Finishing the first book was hard enough because I only had moments where I was actually interested. When asked to raise the Shade of a murder victim, Alex quickly agrees, since it seems like a simple case. As a private investigator and consultant for the police, Alex Craft has seen a lot of dark magic.

Alex Craft is a Grave Witch, able to speak to the dead, while this gift can help others; it grage had serious side-effects for her. Spellbound Series, Book 1. The more the heroine is in contact with the dead the colder her body temperature gets. There are Alex’s own secrets. Then you have the fact that alexx single thing that wltch in the book feels contrived, I could feel the author’s hand in setting up and pushing the characters through to the desired storyline.

Want to Read Currently Reading Read. However, nothing is prkce it seems, and she quickly finds herself as a target in a nefarious plot. Instead, Alex warms herself up the old fashion way; by sharing body heat with someone else. So when Alex thinks ‘we won’ and all is right with her world, she’s still dying. Death more-so because I needed to understand what his attachment was to Alex and why he was so close to her when standard grave witch-reaper etiquette states the occasional “hello” when crossing paths is the most that should ever pass between them.

The “snarky” dialogue also left something to be desired. She must align herself to a court and soon. And to the overbearing blockhead of a love interest, too. But she just ignored it, and then during the revelation she was still an idiot. But as she begins investigating, a creature born of the darkest magic comes after her.
